Exploring future options
Music technology study programme learners spent the day visiting Hope university creative campus. The visit was arranged by Hope university student teachers Kawtar Srhir and Aidele Casciaro who wanted the learners to explore the options available to them following completion of their study programme.
Postgraduate student teachers
Kawtar and Aidele are themselves current Hope university students studying a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. Attending Mode 3 days per week as part of their teaching placement gaining valuable experience teaching English and employability skills to learners across all programmes.
Overwhelmed with enthusiasm of learners
Kawtar and Aidele where overwhelmed with the enthusiasm and excellent behaviour of the learners throughout the visit. The learners who are all currently working towards Level 2 Btec in Music Technology were given the opportunity to speak to lecturers at the university, gain course information and speak with ambassadors about student life.
Following the visit Kawtar and Aidele said “We are thrilled with the feedback from the learners, they were a credit to themselves and Mode today and even gave us both a hug at the end of the visit thanking us for taking the time out to take them with their tutor Wesley Tagoe on the visit”
Kawtar and Aidele complete their placement at Mode this week both commenting they could not have ended their 4 month placement any better than to see learners, some who had been disengaged from education switching onto learning in the way they did today.
Changed perspective of university
A number of the learners are now re considering their next steps, the visit has changed their perspective of university, with some considering progressing onto Level 3 in Music technology which will give them enough UCAS points to progress to degree level qualifications and potentially apply to Hope university.
