This is a work-based qualification suitable for anyone who has completed NVQ Level 2 in hairdressing or barbering and wants to progress further in the industry.
See units listed below. Students are allocated a dedicated assessor who will visit them in the workplace to carry out assessments, set targets, provide support and monitor their progress.
To achieve a full Level 3 NVQ Diploma in hairdressing, students must achieve a minimum of 58 credits: 21 credits from the mandatory units and a further 37 must be achieved from the optional units.
Unit: G22 Monitor procedures to safely control work operations 4 credits
Unit: G18 Promote additional services or products to clients 6 credits
Unit: G21 Provide hairdressing consultation services 3 credits
Unit: GH16 Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques 8 credits
The assessor will carry out a skillscan with the student in their workplace to identify the best optional units to complete. This decision is made in agreement with the student, their employer and their assessor.
Students must already have completed an NVQ Level 2 in hairdressing or barbering. If this qualification is being completed as part of an apprenticeship then further entry requirements apply.

Apprenticeship funding is available for this course. Students’ eligibility for funding will be assessed on application. If students are not eligible, the cost of the course is £1500 inclusive of VAT
At the end of this course, students will be able to carry out advanced hairdressing services. On completion, the assessor will discuss with the student what further qualifications are available to them.
